Rumi festival 2- 4th August 2013 Hawick, Scotland

Not a million miles away from p&g  HQ, reed flute from Kudsi Erguner, acclaimed master of the Turkish Ney, Whirling Dervish Sema with musicians direct from Istanbul and the vastearth orchestra choir to sing a specially composed piece with words by Rumi accompanied by rock legend Arthur Brown or dance with award winning Scottish folk musician Mairi Campbell. And most of all listen to regular recitations of poetry, by Rumi or inspired by him, in the poet’s tent.

Good food and convivial company near Hawick on the Chisholme Estate, home to the Beshara School, a 200 acre estate in the moors of the Scottish Borders.

Le Festival de Fès des Musiques Sacrées du Monde, Fes, Morocco June 2013

Go to Fes in Morocco and attend the Sacred Music Festival with poet and singer Patti Smith. The theme is Andalusia and other acts include: Amina Alaoui, Morocco’s famous interpreter of Andalusian music, Paco de Lucia, flamenco singer Carmen Linares; and Portugal’s Ana Moura; experience Arabic verse and song in an authentic setting and hear its modern interpretations. This sounds very appealing right now...

Events start from 7th June until 15th June. Find out more here http://www.fesfestival.com/2013/

E-Poetry [ 2011 ] : International Digital Language | Media | Arts Festival

E-Poetry runs from May 18-21, 2011 at State University of New York at Buffalo, United States. The event claims to be the "longest-running and definitive digital literature festival in the world"; previous events have been all over the western world including West Virginia, London, Paris, and Barcelona.

There is still time for proposals for presentations that are truly exceptional in nature.

The festival promises 4 days of:

  • festival performances
  • exhibitions
  • artistic presentations of poetics statements
  • scholarly papers
  • talks
  • and celebration of creative, visionary, and imaginative poeisis at the cutting edge of the triumphant spirit of the arts in the digital age.
The festival presents world class e-poetry, digital and media arts, multilingual poetics, dance, music, and other forms of avant-garde artistic language, media and scholarly practice.

Find out more about the E-Poetry festival at: http://epc.buffalo.edu/e-poetry/2011/. Also take a look at the Electronic Poetry Centre at Buffalo http://epc.buffalo.edu/ which is interesting. And here is a definition of poiesis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poiesis which I had never heard of before but probably you like me kind of guessed right both what it means and what it implies.
